Upgradex Paper Dimension Guide
The Paper Dimension (also called Terriac's Pocket Dimension) is a hidden location in Upgradex accessible from the Bonus Baseplate. Themed around the Fundamental Paper Education universe, it serves as the home of developer Terriac and several original characters created by the Upgradex team. It contains the starting point for the UNREALITY puzzle, Terriac's interactive house, and multiple hidden features. This guide documents everything known about the Paper Dimension in RELEASE 1.1.
How to Access the Paper Dimension
The Paper Dimension is hidden within the Bonus Baseplate. Players can access it through a painting in Raspbelvet's house in the Bonus Baseplate. This requires players to have progressed sufficiently to reach the Bonus Baseplate area of the upgrade tree. The exact interaction point is on the painting—approaching and interacting with it teleports you to the Paper Dimension.
This is a one-way transition zone that functions similarly to entering a sub-area within the upgrade tree world. The Paper Dimension is separate from the main game world and operates as its own contained environment with unique physics and visuals.
Terriac's House
Terriac's house is the central feature of the Paper Dimension. It is designed after the Fundamental Paper Education aesthetic—a sketch-style art direction that contrasts with the sleek modern look of the main Upgradex UI. The house contains interactive furniture and is where Terriac himself can be found.
Terriac is both the canonical and actual artist behind the painting that serves as the entrance to the Paper Dimension. He is a main scripter behind Upgradex development and claims to have created the Paper Dimension as his personal creative space within the game. He does not like to interact with the Main Dimension and treats the Paper Dimension as his true home.
Cube Teleporter
The Cube Teleporter is a feature in the Paper Dimension unlocked through multiple upgrades. It allows players to teleport to different zones of the game world, serving as a fast-travel system within Upgradex. The exact destinations and unlock conditions depend on your current upgrade progress.
This feature is shared across the main game world and connects to the Paper Dimension as a hub area. It is one of the practical reasons to visit the Paper Dimension beyond its lore value.
Interactive Features at Terriac's House
The Paper Dimension includes several interactive environmental features at Terriac's house: Flying Notes (touch them and they spin in the air, referencing #1B on the Main Baseplate), Seesaw (sit on it to tip it side to side, made of plastic), Tire Swing (sit to swing around in a full circle), and Slide (a trip at the top leads down into a lake at the bottom).
These are purely cosmetic and interactive flavor elements that reward exploration. They reference the Fundamental Paper Education art style and serve as easter eggs rather than progression mechanics.
Original Characters
The Paper Dimension hosts several original characters created by the Upgradex development team: Terriac (the owner, an artist and programmer, who can answer questions about the Paper Dimension), Connor (a personified metal sign with an orange and black striped scarf resembling caution tape, who camouflages as a warning sign and reveals his face when approached—created by terriac but originally owned by Kaaatie/A3DGhost), Arayde (occupies the Numerical Centre of Harmony school space in Terriac's house, created by Raspbelvet), and Stellaria (created by Sandie, accessorized with a leotard).
Connor also appears as a Main Menu secret 1 out of 4 times, appearing as a larger figure on a mountain in the background. He uses telekinesis to interact with the world and can generate his own voice through the air. His enraged form was designed by @tunafied_ but was scrapped along with UNREALITY.
UNREALITY Puzzle Connection
The Paper Dimension serves as the starting point for the UNREALITY badge—the four-part puzzle that was largely scrapped due to low community engagement and Terriac being the sole developer. Only Part 1 of UNREALITY remains accessible in RELEASE 1.1. The puzzle began at Terriac's House in the Paper Dimension.
The UNREALITY [UNFINISHED] badge has 0 public awards as it requires server-owner access. See the UNREALITY guide for what remains accessible. The Paper Dimension thus holds both lore significance (as Terriac's home) and endgame content importance as the entry point for a discontinued puzzle line.
